What is muscle therapy?

Muscle therapy combines deep tissue massage with targeted stretching and isolated treatment of muscle groups. It goes deeper than regular massage and aims to treat the cause of muscle and joint problems, not just the symptoms.

Do I need a referral from a doctor?

No. You can book directly. If you have a diagnosis or are being treated by a doctor or physiotherapist, please tell me about it in your first session.

How is muscle therapy different from regular massage?

Regular massage is often about relaxation and wellbeing. Muscle therapy works systematically with muscles, connective tissue and joints to release locked tension, correct imbalances and give you your mobility back.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothes. It helps to bring shorts or workout clothes, but I adapt the treatment to the situation.

Does the treatment hurt?

Deep tissue massage can feel intense, but I adjust pressure and technique to what you can tolerate. The goal is effective treatment without unnecessary discomfort. Most people feel clear relief afterwards.

How long is a session?

You can choose between 45 and 60 minutes. The first session includes a short conversation about your complaints. With 60 minutes there is more time for a thorough assessment and for several areas in the same session.

How many sessions will I need?

It varies. Some people notice a big improvement after one session, while long-standing problems often need several. After the first session I will give you an honest recommendation.

Can muscle therapy help with tension headaches?

Often, yes. Tension headaches usually start in tight muscles in the neck, jaw and shoulders. When that tension releases, the headaches often ease or disappear.

Can I exercise after a treatment?

Avoid hard training on the same day. Your body needs time to respond to the treatment. A gentle walk is perfectly fine.

Where are you located?

At ABC-Klinikken, Olav Kyrres gate 33, in the middle of Bergen city centre.

Do you offer massage at the workplace?

Yes. I come to your company with all the equipment needed and treat 8 to 10 employees during a six-hour day. See the corporate page for prices.
